Accelerating Organizational Adoption Through Customer Confidence

Big Problem
A major organizational disruption required colleges and universities to adopt new ways of teaching and learning almost overnight. Learning technology had become mission-critical, but technology itself was no longer the limiting factor. Institutions needed faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and executive leaders to confidently adopt entirely new ways of working, without the luxury of traditional implementation timelines.
Symptoms
"We've never done it this way before."
"Our users are overwhelmed."
"How do we help hundreds of instructors change at once?"
"We need people to feel confident, not just compliant."
"We only get one chance to make this successful."
The Context
Before COVID, change management for digital platforms progressed slowly, and in many cases, adoption was optional. Global disruption mandated immediate universal adoption. This meant we had to bypass the typical consensus building process, artful persuasion and investment in opinion leaders. It meant new ways of helping thousands of users believe they could successfully teach, lead, and learn in an entirely new environment, then implement it.
My Role
I designed rapid customer education and adoption systems that helped institutions build confidence while navigating large-scale organizational change.
Rather than treating customer education as a post-sale support function, I approached it as commercial infrastructure, a repeatable system that reduced uncertainty, accelerated adoption, and helped organizations develop new capabilities.
Enabled through: Executive webinars, Faculty learning experiences, Articles and implementation guides, Communities of practice, Communication toolkits, Customer success resources, Change management strategies, Stakeholder-specific adoption pathways
The Transformation
Customer education evolved from an implementation activity into a strategic commercial capability. Rather than relying on isolated champions or exceptional individuals, institutions gained repeatable pathways that helped leaders, faculty, and support teams move through change together. The conversation shifted from software deployment to organizational capability. Instead of measuring implementation success by platform activation, institutions increasingly measured success by confidence, participation, and sustained adoption.

Enterprise Impact
Demonstrated that customer education could become a scalable commercial capability rather than a reactive support function.
Takeaway
Every technology adoption decision is an identity decision - am I the kind of person who does this? The core messaging to influence identity shift is belief.
Why This Works
Every major organizational transformation asks people to answer the same unspoken question: "Can I be successful in this new world?" Vendors often respond by explaining the technology, where to click. Partners reduce uncertainty and increase self-belief instead. When people understand not only how to use a product, but also how they will succeed because of it, adoption accelerates naturally. Customer Education connects self-belief to "now where do I click", and it's the foundation for success of all technical products.
